About the site
I am increasingly tired of being sold by social networking, and having my online life dictated by a few companies. Facebook has so much happening now, that reading a simple chronological feed of my friends is undoable. Google is so enormous and integrated into everything that it has created a systemic risk.
This site is my answer. Yes it is a blog, but I am also going to aggregate my digital self here. Before social networking and group sites, having your own site was really the way to provide a presence on the web. It is complicated, there are a lot of moving parts and maintenance, but it is the tradeoff to having someplace else own your data (personal thoughts and pictures) with an ever more complex contract agreement and privacy policy. No thanks.
The downside of course is that 'networking' part with your friends, but again, the same effect can be achieved using simple tools that already exist for the web. I hope to show that here.
About me
I was born in the Summer of Love, near San Francisco, California, and raised in a converted school bus, communes, and cabins in the woods, all over the West Coast.
Some time back I got lucky and got a job managing internet computers. Now I am an open source fan, as you might imagine a techno hippy should be!I make many kinds of music, and patchwork clothes, when I am not fussing with digital bits. I like to travel around in my short bus every chance I get.
