It is clear that the Occupy Movement is not going away; that would be the antithesis of its very name. There are no stated simple goals, because the issues at hand are complex. My question is: what ever happened to City Hall? Isn't there supposed to be a large auditorium the public can assemble in, and communicate as a group to civic leaders? Obviously, things are bad enough now this should be a daily conversation. Are they bad enough to have people camping out there too? I think so, but its clear even the basic lines of citizen feedback are closed if the public is left to stand out in the weather, or is actively being chased out with rubber bullets and tear gas, instead of being let into City Hall and offered coffee while the mayor, the senator and house representatives get ready to meet with them.
I believe the OCCUPYers represent a voice of the people that has been long shut out and ignored, but is a key part of our democracy, with a long history, and its time to remind the pople who were elected to represent the people who they should be listening to. And how.
